>>53393091Most of the Champions have a good signature Pokemon. Either one of the strongest Pokemon from that game, something iconic from the Region, and/or just something that suits them personally.
>BluePicked the starter that is strongest against yours
>Lance He comes back from RBY with his Dragonite. Fighting 3 of them back-to-back was nothing to laugh at in Gen 2 either, because Ice/Dragon counters were limited. I think Tyranitar would fit on Lance's team, but oh well. Dratini is considered a "sacred" Pokemon by Lance's family in Blackthorn City, so it's fine.
>StevenSteven is the minerals guy, and likes Steel Type Pokemon. Metagross is one of the two psuedo legendary mons for the game, and Steel/Psychic used to be a really powerful defensive type.
>WallaceOutside of being former Gym Leader for Sootpolis City (a hollow volcano full of water), Wallace was also a contest star. Milotic evolves from having a high beauty stat, and is also a classic bulky water mon. It won't go down easily against Electric or Grass because of how high its Sp.Def is. It also comes with Toxic/Recover to sustain itself.
>CynthiaGarchomp is simply the best Pokemon in Gen 4, outside of Dialga, Palkia, etc. It's the pseudo for the game, it's really fast, and has a good type offensively and defensively.
>IrisHaxorus isn't the best Pokemon in Gen 5, but it does have high Attack stats among Dragon types. She also gave it a Focus Sash to compensate for any defensive weaknesses, so she guarantees herself at least one Dragon Dance for setup.
>DianthaMega Gardevoir is a good fit for Kalos; it looks like a royal in a ballroom dress, and is one of the 2 Fairy Pokemon that can Mega Evolve for a massive stat increase (although Diancie would've worked well, IF it was meant to be a normal evolution of Carbink and the Mega wasn't relegated to ORAS). Gardevoir isn't the toughest in the game though, partly because Kalos has such a big Pokedex that there are several contenders.
