Only points that actually pertain to Kalos and hold up. The problem with XY isn't that they're actually bad, but that they marked a steady decline coming from the absolute kino that was Gen 5. In terms of baseline quality they at least meet expectations compared to Gen 7 and 8 which purposefully lowered the bar further and further despite offering nothing in return.

Feel free to shit on Kalos all you want, mind you. It's nothing spectacular, but constantly attributing shit that Gen 7/8 did wrong to Gen 6 retroactively only points out how much better XY are. But as I said, it really doesn't deserve that praise and you're better off leaving Kalos forgotten as it should be.

Hau has a great arc if you actually pay attention. Going from a care free, doesnt care if he loses friendly rival, becoming more and more upset until he breaks and becomes competitive out of frustration. Way better than any rival in XY, which as far as i remember dont have any personality beyond being your friend.

RS was literally just battle tower, ss aqua, and the latis
Alola had various side quests/trainer battles, second half of poni island, more legendaries, the Rainbow Rocket episode if it's USUM, and battle tree
might have been a few things i forgot
also, LGPE and SV actually have the worst post game

I think you're projecting what you think he's trying to be onto what the character actually is. He doesn't gradually become more frustrated or anything, he just does the Barry thing of "I've got to become stronger!...wait no. That's not enough. I've got to become stronger!" suddenly near the end after being carefree retard the whole game. Hop does do what you're talking about, even if Hop is more pathetic and annoying anyway.

Johto is easily the worst designed region in the series. It barely feels different from Kanto, and the level curve makes raising an entire team of Pokemon incredibly tedious even if you're playing on an emulator with a fast-forward toggle. The game also actively shits on Chikorita fans by making nearly every trainer have Pokemon that are strong against Grass. I don't know how anyone can stand to replay GSC or HGSS without dying of boredom.

This. I like the games, but for the first time in HOW MANY gens I can't move multiple pokemon to another box without scrolling one by one to the box I want. I can't search the Pokedex either and habe to manually scroll to the entry I want. The dex is supposed to resemble a bookshelf, why is there only one row? One 400-book wide row?

The interface is such a step backwards in nearly every aspect and fuck everyone who claims another game has a worse interface (aside from the first two gens, but that isn't even fair).

Totem Togedemaru and Ultra Necrozma are both shitty, cancerous battles

I hear it nonstop for about 5 hours of gameplay. every location starting from Hokulani Observatory all the way up to Po Town has it playing, which in case you need a reminder is the entire fucking island.

All Rom Hacks, but Pokémon GS Chronicles specifically. Played as Kris, agreed to get coffee with Ethan one time, then suddenly he thinks we're an item and is always trying to defend my maiden honor or some shit. All mainline Switch games. The 3DS era is a step down from the DS era sure, but the simple truth is that the second Pokemon came out on the Switch it threw away every semi-decent quality it had.
