This is a dumb distinction because there are Pokemon like Aegislash, Trevenant, Claydol, and Golurk, merely to name a few, that clearly get one type from their vessel and the other from the poorly explained "spectral energy" that gives them consciousness

Sure, it literally has stone in it's name, but that's because of gravestone
Other than that, it's just a dog with a connection to the dead, no body parts made out of stone
well, except the little gravestone on it's head, but that's way too little to justify it's rock typing

If Golurk counts then so should Claydol, both are made out of clay.
it makes no sense to get mad about this because it's all arbitrary anyway
