While not Kalos specifically, ORAS added 18 more mega forms which would make that generation as a whole 120.
Hisui also has 20 new pokemon overall, so you can add that to whichever one you think it applies to the most.
In general, my point wasn't to say if it was the biggest/smallest because I don't think its fair to fault Z moves for doing something different, and I ignored all gigantamaxes, but just to say that the 72 number doesn't really reflect Kalos or Gen 6 as a whole.
