I live in Verdanturf and Route 117 is one of the reasons why. Very convenient. FYI the pokemon in this route can help determine a majority of Hidden Power types.

I just go through every single grass tile over and over while EV training special attack on the spindas and slugmas

I seem to build up enough ash for all the flutes without even noticing but I'm used to playing on emulators with speed up

It's actually technically mandatory, even if you missed it the first time around, you NEED to take Rusturf tunnel and then this route to get back to Lavaridge from Rustboro since Mr Briney will be on route 109

This route is burned into my memory because I got stuck on Wattson as a kid and would constantly go back and forth between Mauville and Verdanturf to play at the game corner and do contests. I really liked how the side content in these games gave you something to do aside from just progress the story

No you don't. After Lavaridge you can head back to Meteor Falls and go through to enter Rustboro from the north. You don't even have to enter Verdanturf, since you can also grab the Strength HM from the Rustboro side once you've got Rock Smash.

This doesn't change the fact that when you first come through meteor falls and go over the ledge your ONLY way of getting to the volcano again is to go through the rusturf tunnel and hence this town and route.
Granted, if you don't go over the ledge at all and instead back track all the way through route 114, 113, 112, 111, and fiery path, THEN you can avoid it. But literally who's gonna do that?

I wasn't trying to suggest it's some grand secret, just stating that it is indeed optional.

I agree with this, while I enjoy a lot of DP's rout tracks, they themselves aren't really "iconic" in design.

The lack of a consistent vision for the version finalized of any artistic project does that. It doesn't matter if it turns out to be shit what matters is that you were clear on what you wanted to deliver, this could have been a passable refreshing expansion of the game we've played a thousand times but instead that anon lost his focus and delivered nothing but words and some pictures.

Easy to hatch eggs.
Catch a Slugma, breed some pokemon, go back and forth between route 114 (was it?) to Verdantuff. You get babymons in a snap.
