This is a thread to discuss, recommend, rate, and otherwise just talk about romhacks (not necessarily about developing them).

Right now I'm replaying the TCG Neo (pic related), since the "include everything" GBA romhacks kind of tired me. Do you have any comfy hack recommendations? How's the current state of DS hacking?

If I recall correctly it only changes the cards.
The rest of the game is exactly the same.

I tried the Pokemon XY_Naturia (Base Crystal).
It is a nice game with some world map changes but the way they make the game hard is bad.
> First encounters are all pokemon weak to plot necessary battles.
> Some weaknesses were removed and the accuracy of status-affecting moves like supersonic and stun spore was lowered.
> Enemy IA gets stuck in recovering hp moves, which only makes all battles pp stalling.
> Level cap for wild pokemon is very low compared to trainer pkmns, which only makes it hard and time-consuming to grind.
> Items are locked in battle, so no hp healing or boosting status items.
> all initial pokemon are high-level evolutions or few moves pokemons.

I like the game idea, but it's pretty stupid to try and take it seriously without grinding/accelerating the game for grinding.

I feel like a good hack is hard by making you think hard and use strategies, not by limiting your overall resources.

I'll try pokemon Grim (base Crystal) next. I've heard good things about this one.
