I'm talking about the jump between the Champion and post-game trainers in BW.

In Pt/HGSS it's fine because by the time you defeat the Champion your team would be around the same level as the post-game trainers so there's no need for grinding.

Also, I'm just now realising how weird BW's level curve is. The trainers in the sports domes unlocked after the 7th Badge (Lv. 39) are the same level as the Elite Four. How does that make any sense?

Honestly just battle them at the lower levels. I'll admit it's something of an insane level jump but if you beat ghetsis you can beat an NPC with a few NFE even if they're in their 60s

You're meant to go around and do the Plasma post-game story, by the end of that you'll be around these levels, and then the routes will give you some more exp to prepare for the league rematch.
Comparing a few levels of difference over you in a post-game challenge to the lacking experience of HGSS shows a lack of understanding of the issue on a fundamental level. Not suprising given how often johto fans plug their ears and yell over any opinion they don't like.

Level 36 is a low ball, that's only Janine, who's obviously supposed to be weak. The rest of the gym leaders are in the mid 40s which is roughly where you'll be at around that point.

Pretty sure that was a falseflagger posing as a Johto fan. Any self-proclaimed "Johto fanboy" would know the Kanto GLs range from 46-58 with the exception of Janine. Plus, they're even higher in HGSS.

Anon, remember Gen V's EXP formula. You get boosted points for taking down enemies above your level. Postgame is literally building you up.

Loved BW but I never understood why the level curve was so low. It’s not like they were held back by a second region or anything. The game probably could have gone exactly the same had they just bumped the curve up to like 60 or something with N being level 58 and the legendary Dragon encounter being 55
