I've been working on this mantis themed fakemon and I'm having a tough time figuring out its head. I'm trying to find something that's not too human but not too bad looking; all my attempts keep coming out as either Lurantis or a Sonic OC. I'm trying to make it look like its got long hair like a Heian period woman or a Yurei but it's tough to make something long and flowing out of bug parts.

I've thought of putting wings on its head as hair; I thought it might be interesting if when it flew and its wings would flow behind it like a ghost's long hair.

ooh, i'm a huge fan of the tiki and the igloo turtle.
if you want criticism though, i think the iguana should be quadrupedal. i always liked the way lizards looked and the quadrupedal iguana starter basically embodied everything i liked about marine iguanas visually, but the bipedal one just looks like a fat godzilla mascot

i think i've posted this before, but this is my anglerfish mon, based on how they fuse when mating. the first phase is a lightbulb, which becomes the head light of a female as she evolves.

Hmmm, I see what you're saying. Although the skulls are one of her key design elements so I think they should remain in some form. My idea was that, since the character's gimmick is that she kills any suitor who is weaker than her, I wanted the Pokemon to be a mantis with the skulls suggesting the heads of her prey. Maybe the skulls could be rolled back and turned into shoulder pads and made less skull-like? I've been doing a few sketches trying to simplify her torso down and moving the skulls around, but I can't find a good balance

Not bad concept, I like Praying Mantis working in that field. But like most designs, it takes multiple iterations to really come into its own. Also, using something as an inspiration is fine, but sometimes it needs to diverge a bit to be unique and stand on its own.

Seems like a bad concept since the actual quartz in quartz clocks aren't really visible from the outside. Like, even if you make a clock from rocks it'd still be a forced idea for the sake of it.
