The only thing you need to hack a WII is an internet connection and an SD card. Its stupid easy and there are tons of resources on the matter.
As for what to do after...
I recommend getting the Homebrew application Nintendont for GC games. Easy to use and you just need to put the games on a FAT32 drive and go to town playing your favorite GC games. When you go to connect your GBA to the WII, be sure to go into Nintendont's settings and turn on "Native Control." This will use the native GC ports only and is required to make the GBA connection work.
You would only ever turn off native control if you want to use other controllers that's not a GC one.
