Perish Body also affects Cursola. On the off chance it survives a resisted physical hit, it's on a timer to switch out or die as well. Nobody whats to use a bulky attacker like that.

Considering that one of Stoutlands competitors has the best Base Stat Total in the tier even with its attack and Speed Halved,one has Reliable Recovery, and the other has EQ and amazing coverage.... yeah it was hopeless from the start

With so many Pokemon, it's almost impossible to make everything balanced.

A testament to how lazy Smoggie was in Gen 8. Firstly, Stoutland is a fine wallbreaker in Sand. Not the best, but you could get away with using it on Gigalith teams in RU. Secondly, every other gen's joke analysis actually had effort put into it. Think about Gen 5 Hoppip or Gen 6 Beautifly.

There is NOTHING preventing a fossil Pokémon from having good stats and movepool. Same can be said for almost every Rock-type Pokémon as well.

Dracovish is actually an entirely new species.
Although saying "they went extinct for a reason" is stupid since survival of the fittest isn't survival of the physically strongest. Plenty of species died out despite being able to kill most other animals, and some survived better being domesticated.

Gen 9 so far is tied with (base) Gen 8 as far as unused types being added. So far Gen 8 after DLC and Legends has still added more unused type combos.

A better example would be Bolt Beak from the fossilized bird, which only has 75 spd when stuck to the Draco legs, and would presumably be much faster if it was originally a Rock/Electric raptor.
The original form of the fish fossil is less likely to be any faster, although may have had Swift Swim, which would make it even more devastating in the rain.
