>>53442935It used to be my favorite of the Kanto starter trio (think I really liked how it gets wings) but recently the more I look at it, the uglier it becomes to me. Just looks really fat with a kind of gross color scheme. Something like the Yellow sprite looks pretty okay, and maybe the old Sugimori art, but for the most part it's like its concept is better than how it actually looks. I'm even starting to think the Blastoise line is better in general (Squirtle is cuter than Charmander, Wartortle's more interesting than Charmeleon, Blastoise is also a pretty cool final stage that doesn't look as awkward).
I kind of think the fan reaction like OMG CHARIZARD, CHARIZARD FROM KANTOOOO, THE BEST POKEMON IN THE WORLD annoys me more than Game Freak shilling even though that's pretty blatant too. Like I love Kanto and I even feel like kind of a genwunner at times since Gen 1 has my favorite vibes, but there's other Pokemon from there besides Charizard and that are cooler.
