why is Jolteon so unpopular out of all the eeveelutions? You'd think it'd be more popular since it's one of the cooler ones and it's gen 1 so it has OG status.

insomniacovrlrd / Tom Smith is THE example. Dude's been doing pokeporn since when a lot of people giggling at the vaporeon pasta today were in diapers. It was only when his output became truly dominated by Patreon-funded comics over commissions he got nuked.

That would be the case only if it had a chance to actually protag.
In the anime it's just a random mon, and I don't remember it being the ace of any memorable fight in the mainline games.
