Every instance of the Dawn Stone's usage takes a gender neutral Mon that evolves and creates a genderlocked branching evolution for it. With that in mind, what are some other potential Pokemon who could use the Stone?

Male Salandit: The lore says that the reason male Salandit can't evolve is due to being malnourished from being forced to give the females most of their food. A stone evolution could bypass this

I've thought about this one and Combee too, but I think the only thing holding it back is that in the other two uses, the initial evolution of the base stage is always gender neutral.

Aromatisse is also one I've considered but that breaks its relationship with its counterpart Slurpuff. Perhaps Lurantis and Leavanny could get male evolutions?

GF doesn't care about that anymore. They retconned all the area-based evolutions into stone evolutions.

I.E.:

>Leafeon: Leaf Stone
>Glaceon and Crabominable: Ice Stone
>Magnezone, Probopass, and Vikavolt: Thunder Stone

That's changing the evolution method of already existing pokemon, this already happened with Feebas.
They've never introduced a new evolution with an old evolution requirement.

Perhaps it becomes a Fire/Dragon through it cleansing the mindcontrol pheromones of the females.
It'd be a nice physical attacker equivalent to Sallazle.
Maybe give it a Fire based Corrosion ability.

Same with Leafeon being a leaf stone evolution.
Perhaps it was abput the specific way the stone is applied to the pokemon becoming known.
Like for Leafeon they had to rub it over their fur along with a little bit of moss for it to work.

Feebas didn't have the method changed, a new one was introduced. You can still evolve one through Beauty even in games where you can't increase the Beauty.

IIRC the first game they did that still had a grassy rock area that would trigger Leafeon's evolution, the Leaf Stone was just more accessible.

Just take it as "Leaf Stones are fragments of the grassy rock".
