2. They've been defending new designs from autistic genwunners for so long that they have convinced themselves that good designs are bad and that these bad designs are good because they're "smarter" or "more creative".
I don't want to live with a buff heel wrestler or secret agent, I want to live with essentially a glorified pet that can have a range of characters I project onto it from my own imagination through how it preformed in gameplay.
Also yes, Gen 1 has shit designs too, Mr. Mime and Jynx are awful and even back then anyone I talked thought they were awful. People have always thought this kinda design was shit.
