I was the target audience when Pokemon started airing in america, maybe slightly too young.
I watched it up to DP and by that time I only watched it for Dawn.

Same here. Like it was a weird choice to have Ash for so many years. Like he never grew up or anything so having a different MC every generation starting in gen 3 would have worked fine.

I think he was supposed to grow up throughout the series but the idea was scrapped, I remember his voice getting deeper and at one point was was taller than Misty.

Unlike the Ash series, this one does not seem to be tied to the new games. No need to reboot the characters/power levels/team/progress every few years. They don't need to constantly make the MC choke at the end after showing time and time again they are very good at battling. They can actually accomplish things without ending the series.

Atleast that is what I hope the people who watch the anime get.

Was this really a good idea? Even the dumbest consumer knows the games get more and more heavily dumbed down and the content slashed. Ash was among the few things still likeable about the franchise

I didn't grow tired of ash, I grew tired of the formulaic writing which was as formulaic as the games. They absolutely should have had ash move on with grace early on but they commited to the never ending, never aging gimmick and honestly I'd rather they just stick to that and improve the writing rather than dump it all. Too much nostalgia attached to the character now. Anything new is just going to be soulless in comparison.

Brendan is a faggot though, would rather they made more anime original esque kind of protagonists similar to ash being a less gay version of Red.

It's gonna feel weird not having Ash around for the new anime. Gen 9 really feels weird to me, first time I've skipped out on new game (so far, might get when it goes for cheap0 and Ash is no longer the main character of the anime.
