Eh, I think newer Pokemon do not translate well to the old pixelart style, as their designs are more detailed tha Gen 1-2 species.

Hot take but why was this even a starter? In the beta it was a nice 2-stage counterpart to Golduck but they got rid of based Ordile for it.

I don't think most of the Gen 1 sprites look good. But I prefer the jank-ass Blue ones to the jankier-assier Green ones or the way too on model Yellow ones. Gen 2 generally got it right, give or take a "oh god this game is releasing in a few months".

I actually agree, but it's more that the 3d is fucking horrendous than the sprite being good. I wouldn't blink or care if the sprite was in an old game, but the 3d is actual dogshit and anyone who thinks it's acceptable for a major franchise to field an incomplete blender mesh as a character should probably get the dick out of their eyes.

Meltan was already a pretty cool design
Melmetal was a boring disappointing biped, it just wasn't what i wanted from a meltan evolution
these sprites don't change any of that
i'm not sure what you see in these sprites
