To be fair you should exclude Kanto since it's explicitly stated to be another region (even though everything from 26-28 should be Johto, Game Freak calls that Kanto because... reasons), but even If you exclude Kanto the "Johto small meme" still falls apart. l.

No body says Gen 4 johto is small. And good job including KANTO in with it. Also hilairious you hide Unova from this when it's bigger then all of these, some even combined. It also doesn't address the issue of the level curves and so many pokemon being locked to the late late late-game.

It's not, Unova's landmass is inflated by its four bridges, only one of which actually counts as a genuine map. In reality, it's about the same size as Sinnoh.

Through Chuck - Pryce your Pokémon will go through levels 24-31 (according to the several Johto runs I've done), so at no point are you underlevelled nor overlevelled for the entire northen Johto section.

Yes, because you can explore all the way up to Route 40 or the Lake of Rage before Morty, whose gym is level 16-25. The level anchor jumps up to level 24-26 after getting Surf for both sides (Cianwood and Mahogany).
