Gen 6 overall was way more tame than other Gens. One could argue that a Gen 5 team with Gen 5 mechanics would more than likely win against a Gen 6 team with Gen 6 mechanics, also assuming crits even come into play and current ban list is used.

4 and 5 both added more power creep than megas did. Megas weren’t even that broken until ORass released.

That's because Megas only existed to prop up CHARIZARD and the shillmons, (with a handful of charity cases so that Game Freak can pretend to care about all Pokemon)

Are you referrng to the Gen 2 meta, because my understanding was that people hated it because of Snorlax was completely broken due to GenWun privelge and Game Freaks incompetence at balancing.

Mewtwo somehow got the short end of the stick when it came to major legendary megas, come to think of it
>Mega fug can still hold items
>Primal Kyogre/Groudon get really strong abilities and don't take the mega slot because primal reversion is totally different

You build literally every team like this
Gen 2 stall is also the worst to play vs version of stall and its actually decently viable in the tier.

In XY they actually vaguely cared about balancing the megas then ORass just went full retard and made the most OP shit possible. I'm still mad Tyranitar's mega is fucking dogshit while Metagross and Salamence both get to have extremely broken ones.

I think this is an unfair assessment, you need multiple plans for dealing with Lax but you don't need a hard counter to every set on your team, and you have some variety in your answers to Lax. You *can* use something like Skarm + Miltank to try and explicitly counter Lax, but more teams just use Cloy/TTar/Golem as stopgaps and try to kill it or force it to Rest with Spikes + Thief, Spikes + Thunder, Explosions, Machamp, opposing Cursers, etc.
Fun tier, though even offense vs offense is a lot slower than new gens so there's a reason it's unpopular.
