>>53477477They're not objectively better in anyway, they have more "texture" to them, which means they fit in better with the environments and players (who also got terrible new model styles), but it COMPLETELY steps away from the anime style that has defined pokemon since the beginning, and results in pokemon that look even more fake than ever before.
I'll admit the rim lighting on SwSh models makes them look like plastic, but the solution was LESS color variation across the surface of the pokemon's color blocks, not more. Harder shadows, less specular highlights, no gradients, etc.
"Realistic" is not remotely synonymous with "better", especially in the context of fucking Pokemon.
