VGC is literally dead and it only moves because of few maggots eating its rotten ass. It's even more sad than other dead competitive scenes because this one is still standing up, supported by big, popular brand.
The whole "UH OH WOLFE INVENTED NEW TEAM ARCHETYPE AND KICKED EVERYBODY'S ASS" circlejerking is a thing only because he's a clever, lil shit that know everybody in the game that matters (which is around 5-10 people worldwide) and know their playstyle and how they gonna play. It's kinda cool, but also would not work if there was actual influx of fresh players with fresh mindsets.
And it's not first time he did something like that, mind you - during BW era he got quite a hype for rolling with Delcatty/Gengar/Haunter Normalize + Skill Swap Perish Stall. Again it worked because the few people that mattered were busy austitically fighting over what weather is better.
