This. Bulbasaur is the quintessential Pokemon and encapsulates everything a Pokemon should be.

A monster that is based on a combination of real animals with a clear connection to the elemental typing it has. It's cute but not gag inducing. With a simple design that isn't weighed down with a bunch of tacked on garbage.

this thing and rhyhorn should be separate. rhyhorn does NOT feel like a first stage in the slightest, and rhydon's prevo should be the substitute doll or something
the only thing connecting rhyhorn and rhydon is that they both have a rhino horn. rhyhorn actually resembles a rhino, whereas rhydon just looks like a fictional dinosaur kaiju

I mean, they were both made in the earliest period of Gen 1's eevelopment. Back then, Evolution wasn't a thing, so clearly they weren't made to be in the same line, but Gamefreak said otherwise.
I can totally see Rhyhorn as a Tauros parallel.

I think Making Rhyhorn a Mono-stage qnd giving Rhydon a new Pre-Evo could work.
I can also see Rhyperior becoming a Diancie for Rhydon rather than a direct Evolution.
