105SpA puts it behind the curve as far as being a special attacking electric type.
Being a physical attacking electric type is its main niche. But its stuck with Zebstrika and Electivire being kneecapped by a lack of good attacks.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but physical electric moves are purposefully bad. Eelektross is intended to be a mixed attacker, and learns the best electric move in the game Volt Switch. It's just too slow, and its bulk is too mediocre for most competitive uses. The physical attack is for its great physical movepool.

When Gen 5 was dropping, Eelektross definitely was hyped as being potentially broken on /vp/. And, since /vp/ is only good at exactly one thing, being incredibly wrong, it turned out to be not the case.
