Why becoming a champion then ? It's like if Naruto wanted to be Hokage and then proceeded to become the best flower salesman on the village or some shit.

"Champion" here means officially-recognized challenger who has won a regional League. Some Champions also serve as Regional Champions, representing their region and their regional League. The Masters League tournament decides the Monarch, the officially-recognized strongest trainer in the world. To get a ticket into there you need to be recognized by the Pokemon Association in some way, be it by becoming a Gym Leader, Elite Four member, or Champion. Ash conquered the Alola region, becoming its first Champion and representative Regional Champion, and thus joined the Masters League. By defeating all challengers in the Masters Eight tournament ending in Leon, the reigning Monarch, Ash has now become the new Monarch.

A "Pokemon Master" is an ambiguous title. There is still much to seek, so go out and seek it.

Why do you pretend like you watched the anime? This is literally false information, its called the Pokemon world championships/World Coronation Series and literally anyone can enter it.

part of being strong in battling is understanding Pokemon

the prior episode he commanded a Latios against a hunter. Other episodes he helped Pokemon.

He became the Champion after spending 25 years meeting and battling trainers and their Pokémon that he otherwise wouldn’t have had an opportunity to meet. He’s become the strongest by tightening the bonds with the Pokémon he has met and was able to reach the peak of battling. One bridge has finally been crossed but another awaits upon the horizon.
