It was pretty surprised at how nonchalant the goodbyes for Brock and Misty were. Not sure if the intent of that was to keep the mood light and airy, or if it's because of some future plan for the OG trio. I'm almost certain it's the former, but because I'm a glutton for punishment, I'll hope for the latter.

I have no idea if the new show will flop or not, but I don't think Ash is coming back as the main character of a show. Besides the fact that nothing can stay fresh for 26 years, where is there to take his character at this point? Unless they age him up (which TPCI seems disinclined to do), there's basically nothing left to show.

The goodbye was just weird all around - it's the finale of the show, you bring back the two original traveling companions, and they part ways in a scene that has only slightly more emotion than your average Kenny death in an early South Park episode.

It was supposed to be anticlimatic. The entirety of MPM is an epilogue, meaning it's after the main story. We see Ash just living by his life befriending pokémon and casually meeting up with friends, which he may find and say their leaves over and over. This is his reality, without breakthroughs, without revolutions.

Ash has been a helpful friend and hero to all people and Pokemon alike with everyone that he's inspired and changed the lives of and everyone he's saved as well. He's already a Poke Monaster, as the flower blooming to match part of Mezase's lyrics shows. he just doesn't realize it because he's far more humble than the cocky brat who left Pallet Town ages ago. And even after being a Master, he'll just keep going to new dreams and new adventures until the very end. His dreams and aspirations will never really die and he'll always keep getting better as he makes more friends and changes more lives while they also change his own despite him still being that hopeful trainer at heart. Every part of that, even the smallest moment, is all a part of him being a Pokemon Master. That's the whole point of his journey, of "Pokemon Master" and what MPM was hammering in. Maybe if people weren't trying so hard to make everything about what they want, they'd realize what things actually are and know the only ones who set them up for anything more were themselves.

Ash's journey isn't over, but our time with him and all of his friends and rivals is done for now. Time to close the book and start the next one until a new volume suddenly comes out one day.

Bye for now, Ash. Thanks for everything, it's been fun. See you again someday, Pokemon Master.

Ash can do whatever your imagination desires now that we're voyaging into headcanon territory. If you think about it, there's a reason why. The VA who been doing his voices for all this decades is eldery(?) at this point. It's better finish it with an smile before anything else could happen. Japan love and respect their elite experts VA after all. Then again if this new girl can fill Ash position as the Pokemon MC is another story. We'll see.

Dude, she's still stuck voicing Ai Haibara in Detective Conan and is still in many other things, too. You're seriously underestimating how much of a long time dedication the Japanese have to voice acting. If there's any reason why they stopped things for now, that's definitely not one of them.

If Ash comes back to the anime, as you Ashfags wish for, he'll be reset for another generation of kids.

Or it will be endless episodes of filler (PoTD), which fans seem to disregard, now that they've canonise Pokemon Master is someone who befriends all Mons. I'd also bear in mind that this is a variation of Catch Em' All- which Goh tried to do and cop'd flak for.

Every character got closure besides TR/Giovanni basically.

All of Ash's companions are either at the endgame of their goals or close to it (Dawn/May/Serena), whereas everyone else is either a Gym leader, Brock is a doctor, or as far as the writers can take them. The main rivals like Gary and Paul are pretty much done too.

Honestly thinking about it, it's surprising the writers did wrap up as many characters as they could. Since the main cast are all kids them pursuing their interests off-screen also makes sense.

He definitely has a fixation on making sure Ash always captures the essence of being a 10-year-old kid.

He talked about MPM giving Ash an opportunity to forget everything he'd gone through and just go back to being a kid again. That type of pivot makes sense when you a show that persistently deals with things like loss, grief, etc. The type of stuff that force your protagonist to grow up before their time. Pokemon has certainly touched on those topics on occasion, but the show is overall very lighthearted, so the pivot back to "letting Ash be a kid," didn't carry much weight.

The fact of the matter is the games are not the ashime. Red didn't fail to earn all 8 of his gym badges or defeat the elite 4 and champion. Red and Gold both defeated Giovanni/Team Rocket. Brendan destroyed Magma/Aqua and became the Hoenn Champion + defeated every single battle frontier gimmick. Etc etc. And all of them have captured legendaries.
Ash failed to do all of these things. It's so sad lol even after 26 years he can't even convince a Latias to join him, while Brendan did it without even trying.

Movies are inevitable. There's also a possibility of a cameo, and Roy encountering Ash in the Latios-Latias eps.
Or it would be entirely unresolved, because "Latios" (a Pokemon that still dislikes or distrusts him despite everything) becomes a sort of neverending goal for Ash, and it's all left to our imaginations.

No different than what we are getting right now, except with two characters we don't give a dam about. I probably would have enjoyed Pokemon Horizon if Ash in Roy's place protecting Riko from the evil explorer group while helping her grow as a trainer.
