When I was 8 I got lost in Red seafoam island. I thought i was permanently stuck because the water current was moving me around I couldnt find the exit. I had never blacked out either so I didnt know I could just faint. Had no idea what escape rope was. Had no idea i could put items in the pc, I would just toss something every time I came across something new. I literally cried and started a new game.

Getting lost in a JRPG sucks because you're essentially back tracking until you pick up the trail again. It's not fun, it's just a big waste of time, especially with random encounters. You can use repels but you still have to trek back every time you take a wrong turn. Visually interesting hallways with a few optional side branches are unironically better in this type of game.
