I think what people fundamentally forget about Pokemon is cultural context. I saw that Johto thread complaining about 1% encounter rates but that was awesome in the proto internet days where kids on the school play ground would all be in awe of the one person who managed to find it.

Either that or they'd spend all day theorizing on how to find them and making up bullshit rumours.
