why SHOULD they do it? "donphan but with pink spikes" is some of the laziest shit they have ever conceived. ever since gen 6, they have been using older mons as a crutch to make new designs because for whatever reason they're too lazy to make 100+ 100% original designs like they did in Unova and Hoenn. ever since Kalos it's ben 70ish new pokemon and 20-30ish rehashed pokemon with minor differences. maybe if they didn't do it so often it would be fine but when they introduce 20+ rehashes for four gens in a row then it's just blatant laziness

Great Tusk is cool. I fucking love Great Tusk. BUT I think it's disingenuous to say "Great Tusk is a new and original Pokémon" when it's clearly not. It would've been a kickass Mega Donphan had it come out a decade ago. Now it's a Donphan form that gets its own slot for arbitrary reasons.
