Day 47 of searching for a shiny ralts on route 102 in gen 3 (pokemon ruby). I am currently at 54,825 random encounters and 8 shinies (3 wurmple, 2 poochyena, 2 seedot, 1 lotad).

The pain is great

Sorry, I should have clarified that I started in emerald. The only shiny I've found in ruby so far was the seedot.

Emerald's rng is bugged so the seed never changes. I was bypassing this by never turning my game off but it was a pain so I switched to ruby.

just one more thing, I'm not trying to convince you to play Emerald, but again just so you member, if you're trading it, it'll get a xp boost and can get overleved/not obey you in campaign if you use it too much

I won't be using them to complete the game. I plan on obtaining all ribbons across all gens on them. If I level them over 50 I will permanently miss out on the battle tower ribbon in gen 3 since it doesn't scale you down over 50

Gale of Darkness runs two shiny rolls, one on first appearance/snag and one on purification. The second one will constantly reroll the shiny chance until a non-shiny result happens, meaning Shadow Pokemon from that game can NEVER be truly shiny. This is how Colosseum was supposed to handle it too, but Genius Sonority was just fledgling at the time and an oversight allowed shiny Shadow Pokemon to stay shiny after purification.
