Maybe the reason "powercreep" really took off in Gen 4 is because those Pokemon were designed from the ground up to use their most effective stat regardless of their type, for example imagine if Weavile had it's attack and sp. attack evened out to be the same like Seviper because Ice was a special attacking type, it'd be way worse.
It really sucks that any revisions to a Pokemon's BST are for ultra shitmons and are generally just 10 points to like...Venemoth's Sp. Def or something. If you want to use Seviper ever, you just have to pray it gets an evolution or gimmick form or something because they're never gonna take those useless points out of it's Sp. Attack and just dump them into speed, bulk or attack.
