>>53535068In SwSh, non Galar marked Pokemon were still useable in non-ranked settings, such as the Battle tower, friendly PVP or raids. Ostensibly, these culled moves still exist in the Pokemmon's movesets, which is important for basically anyone not invested in VGC. Furthermore, even outside of movepool culling, this matters because anything transferred in will then have to be reworked to gain whatever possible moveset that they had BACK. An easy, but highly time consuming and unnecessary task, especially when egg moves and TM farming en masse are concerned.
The move culling is also highly uneven in terms of balance. On one hand you get Pokemon with rightful nerfs like Lando-T losing Defog and Knock Off, but on the other hand, things like Weavile and Blissey are gutted for no real reason. SwSh's system would be a much more sensible solution, as it's not only much more elegant, but at least keeps the previous moves as an option for non-VGC players.
