The aesthetic hasn't changed, they're STILL working to the same rules Sugimori developed with Tajiri on what could or should constitute a pokémon. The artstyle did change though, because there's noting around today still honestly trying to push 90's design tropes, unless specifically trying to target oldfag 090's kids with nostalgia. I can see why you hate Pokémon now, it doesn't need to do that to still sell.

Given pokémon still don't have shit for no reason, guns just because or anyhting contrary to the historic creation limitations they've aleays had, the aesthetic hasn't changed. They still make child/human sized elemental creatures designed to be cute, cool and to inhabit their created world as naturally-occurring beasts. Like I said, they style changed because toriyama faded from relevance, zoomie manga writers and anime artists sprang up to replace him and his ethos, who were then in turn replaced by younger zoomies until we're here with an old man yelling at the change that happened while he had his head stuck up his hole thinking his boomer thoughts.

Okidogi would be good is the leash looked like it could move, and not like a jutting tumour.
Fezandipity would be good if it wasn't for the weird feet. For some reason, this was the gen of birds with strange feet, like Quaquaval.
The monkey is the only one I have no idea what they were going for. I'm sure it's look better in movement, but still....

Pokemon always had mixed artstyle.
Gen one han chansey or wigglutuff that is basily blob with simple spiky titarms and it was living next to super realistic bug and bird.

anyway take it from someone who is in the middle here. i started with the originals but like a lot of newer pokemon up to gen 8 but it's getting worse and worse especially the mythicals who seem to be the ugliest and most unappealing desgins gen after gen.
