No because if even a bottom of the barrel game like XY can have decent map design and a supposedly "better" one like SM doesn't, the series has gone in the opposite direction entirely.

I'll give you that, but all of gen 6-9 have it

Ice slide puzzles with 1 clearly visible solution are not unique

It's a few extra dead ends.

This is not significantly better than any other caves in gen 6+ that consistently get hate.

At least Gen 4 and 5 have ice slide puzzles that work most of the time, as opposed to XY where you can just go wherever the fuck you want because of how movement works in that game. I will say, one of Gen 5's ice puzzles does have a spot where you can just walk through a wall, Brycen really is the worst fucking gym leader I'm not surprised he didn't come back in B2W2.
