As far as character pairings go it makes sense: they're both in the elite four so they canonically interact with each other, and they wear similar style of clothing so visually they pair well together.

Don't really care for that as a romantic ship, but I really like the idea that the reason Geeta and Larry seem so familiar with each other is because Geeta is basically the Nemona to Larry's Florian. I'd say they're friends even though Geeta has some sort of contempt for him for some reason and Larry knows her so well that he even says that she's not that bad once you get used to her (one of the only Gym Leaders to say something relatively nice about her, I think). The theory about them being divorced and Poppy being their kid is pretty stupid because Poppy doesn't really look much like Larry or Geeta and Poppy also doesn't treat Larry like her own dad at all.

tl;dr I think they're just very old friends, that's all
