Archie won and killed Maxie, then joyrided around the Battle Frontier in his new suit of armor until the heroes destroyed it, killing Archie.
Except the power of the Orbs actually sent Archie and Maxie to the Distortion World, where they lost their bodies and their consciousnesses fused together. They heard a mysterious voice calling them to save the planet and a portal opened up before them, and they found themselves in their ORAS appearances, with warped personalities because of the mind fusion. They went to reclaim the Red and Blue Orbs and this time entrust them to Groudon and Kyogre to Primal Revert them and use their power to help stop the meteor storm impacting Hoenn, but couldn't control the Orbs' power again and their bodies faded away once more.
