It’s not having a replacement or the effort to justify it that is the problem.
ORAS is a middle ground example, some people think it’s worse than emerald, but at the very least as a remake that changes design, changes timeline, adds the delta episode and includes XY’s Battle Maison, makes it at least decent enough to most people and not a dramatic downgrade, compared to Platinum and BDSP
