I am about to restart Crystal on the 3DS and I was thinking about something like this.
I wanted to use Ninetales and Ampharos but then I remembered they're not available in Crystal.
And Blissey and Rapidash can't be obtained before Kanto, so yeah.
Might change one of them for Arcanine but I want to only use Pokémon I like design-wise and welp, never loved the Growlithe line.

Yeah it's really the only downside to Crystal over G/S. Thundersheep is too good to give up, especially with the punch meta.

Yea, in part to make it more challenging and in part because I like them better design wise. I plan on evolving Goldeen, but the rest I'll see along the way. If they become a burden or not fun to play I'll evolve them, but so far so good.

I'm in Goldenrod now, haven't beaten Whitney yet, but holy shit Oddish is awful. It only has two attack moves in early-mid game (Absorb and Acid) which are both awful and Gloom learns Petal Dance at like level 44. Bellossom is one of my favourites so I'm gonna stick with it til the end but man it's tough. I should probably give it a TM or something.

I actually had a lot of utility with Absorb on my Oddish. It does minimal damage so is great for whittling down weaker mons' health for catching, heals Oddish significantly when used against Rock, Ground, or Water mons, and learns Sleep Powder and can learn both Flash and Cut. Very useful. Eventually I evolved it to a Bellossom and replaced Absorb with Solarbeam and Sunny Day.

Grinding it early on is very tough though.I already taught Cut to Quilava so I'm not gonna teach it to Oddish. Plus teaching it HMs will reduce its utility.
I'm not planning to challenge the gym until I evolve it to Gloom and that's probably going to take me hours.

Clefable is one that's always seems interesting on a replay, but is just not fun to use. Anything she does, Togapi does but you get it for free and Same with Piloswine imo.
Noctowl and Clefable are just odd picks to me when you have so many high quality normal pokemon to choose from. Snubble, Miltank, Togepi, and even Stantler all come to mind.

I've been really enjoying playing Pokemon Unbound! I honestly can't believe the quality of this game, they did a great job upgrading the pokemon experience. yeah the dialogue/story can be a bit edgy at times but you gotta appreciate the heart in the effort. A storyline that includes you during the entire game? unheard of. I just beat the Antisis gym and I've been going back through the mountains to collect anything I missed because I didn't have rock climb before heading to Seaport. I've been using pokemon I don't normally get to use and I love that I've been able to train multiple teams during the game so I have alternates depending on the mood. I haven't got the galladite for Gallade yet but I plan to put that on him when I do. I haven't decided on what I want to evolve Cosmoem into yet because I have their coverage on lockdown but I never played S/M so I wanted to switch either of the evolutions in just to use for fun. The Unova starters I'm just training as a side project because they're given to you as gift pokemon. I don't care to train the Sinnoh starters but I will probably train Charizard/Blastoise/Swampert just to use the megas for fun as well when I get them.

Very basic/nostaglia team, but last time I played HGSS I went out of my way to use pokemon I don't usually use in Johto so that's fair. First time using Quags though, and really liking him. Gonna drop Pidgeotto after it evolves, but still deciding on Skarmory (to keep in Gen 2) or Dragonite because I like that derpy dragon.
Also, I never really noticed before just how badly the Cyndaquil line was hurt by the gen 4 mechanics.

It worked. Dealing with Zubats was hard though. My Odd Egg hatched too. Can't decide if I should store my Elekid in the Day Care with my Ditto or if I should use it in my team. I don't want non-favorites in my team.

I've never used Miltank before though, if Clefable doesn't hold up I could switch it for her or Togetic.
I love Stantler but I already used it in HG and in PLA, not sure I want to use it again so soon (I mean, I also used Espeon in PLA, but it's my favorite Pokemon so it's different).

Odd Egg can hatch into a Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Elekid or Magby. Mine hatched into an Elekid >>53570636

Randomized Crystal nuzlocke run.
Ttar was my starter, Charizard evolved from a shiny Voltorb I caught. Misdreavous is Shuckie. Slowking was a Squirtle and Amphie was a Spearow.
Crushed the e4, Kanto has been proving to be easy as well, wonder what Red's team will be however.

I didn't inject the shinies, I got them legit. I bred the shiny Tepig in Black 1, and I just randomly found a shiny Pidove when I started Black 2.

Red's team, Charmander, Venusaur, Cloister, Donphan, Ursaring and Blissey. Ended up finishing with just Misdreavus left and Blissey was his last. Had 0 moves that could touch me. GG ez, final level max 52.
Made some stupid moves otherwise could have prevented a lot of deaths. 81 charmander crit slash Slowking was kinda funny death though.
Having 3 leftovers was nice with the bulky mons I had.
