Sycamore is equally as retarded for not stopping Lysandre despite his plan practically being spelled out in front of him.
Tierno, Shauna and Trevor are all one note characters and shoe-horned into the story with no development whatsoever. For comparison of another "friendly rival", even Wally from three generations had development.
Pretty sure none of the gym leaders in XY ever even leave their gyms, and you never see them after again after beating them. Even in gen 5 they are active outside of their gyms.
Overall, all the "main" characters in XY are really bland and forgettable, just like the entire gen itself.
The one thing I'll give you is that the XY swimmer is fucking banging.
