>>53574268EV/IV grinding and making a team is fun. Actual competitive battling is pretty gay.
ive tried to get into a few times, but its just not for me
>constant switching>stealth rocks and hazards>your choices are limited to a handful of mons >each mon has a specific role (hazard setter, TR/weather setter, spinner, set up sweeper, late game sweeper, physical/special walls, baton passers, etc.)>no real consistent rules, Smogon, VGC, and the actual games themselves all have different rules, and the games are never balanced with comp in mind>Very typing/coverage and matchup dependent Its hard to teambuild in pokemon, since all 6 pokemon need to be self sufficient to an extent, and you need type coverage and counterplays for a lot of different strategies, and a lot of the times one player just snowballs.
six pokemon is also a lot of pokemon to EV/IV grind and battles take forever sometimes. VGC doubles was more fun for me, as you only used 4 mons, battles were a lot faster, and there was less stall-mons used. That and its more focused on partner combos and synergy, allowing for dumb shit like justified arcanine + whimsicotts beat up
Im just a shitter, but i prefer RPGs to allow all characters on the field at once, instead of one at a time
