Nostalgia is strong but the new games are objectively worse because they leave no room for imagination. If they really wanted 3d they should have gone all in.

I murdered my nostalgia a long time ago. RBYG are shit, Banjo Kazooie nuts and bolts is a great game, and Metroid Dread is objectively better than Super.

I hated it at first but after a run of Boss Rush and a second playthrough it's grown on me. The frustration comes from the new controls which are completely different from Super/Fusion/ZM (I didn't play Samus Returns because I never owned a 3DS and my PC is a dinosaur that can't emulate 3DS well), but now that I've got them down it's great to the point I kept trying to slide when I ran fusion randomized a while back.

My point is, old doesn't always mean good.

I liked dread because it was basically fusion 2 but more polished with dynamic combat. The 2.5d direction rather than full 3d added a lot of charm too.

I'm a zoomer but feel nostalgia for most of the games. I think it's related to me knowing of their existence as well as playing a few when I was younger.

It was the combat that threw me off at first, but once the whole X-Chozo thing started going down the game really picked up and Raven Beak is legit the best boss in the franchise. Gave me Jetstream Sam from MGR vibes, you vs someone of equal power and skill and ability in a fair fight.

you mean like, at all? because yeah it's a bit hard to have nostalgia for a game/something you haven't experienced at all.

false nostalgia is a very real thing though. you still need to experience something or a place but imagine it in a different time or circumstance. i've done it many times, i might have a problem.

For some games, I'd only seen brief screenshots or other people playing them for a minute. But I knew a lot of the Pokémon and seen a bit of the anime. I also feel fake nostalgia for other things.
