>>53575613>SandshrewSad story time.
In January 2001, I think it was 6th, I was coming back from holiday in Australia. I had a lot of trading cards, so did my best friend and his big brother too; one of them had a sandshrew card.
My best friend had told me and another friend, a tomboy, that he, his dad and big brother were leaving for Canada for good at the end of the year, so in December, before Christmas.
I did not take this news very well so I told myself, "I will spend as much time with you but when the day comes when you leave, I will not see you off at the airport."
I was painfully aware of this news, so I kept it in the back of my head, trying to block it out but there were times it would spring up in a conversation and I'd feel extremely uncomfortable.
Come December, my dad, and little brother were going to the airport, I refused t], instead, I sat on the leather sofa, with the sleeping bag covering it, playing with my Lego Bionicle, Turaga matau, the Elder Turaga of air.
Some days later, I went to my friends house. It was empty, so I went to the backyard and on the ground, was a Sandshrew card. I picked it up, brushed off the dirt and took it home. I had a sandslash but no Sandshrew, until then. I was able to complete its evolution line. It was also the last Pokemon trading card I collected. After that, no more.
Another thing was, my friend and his brother gave me my first Pokemon card, Ryhorn, another ground type pokemon. Something about friendship and the symbolism of these cards; friendship started from the earth and when it ended, it returned to the earth.
