Lucario is just great, shilling or no shilling, and to be fair isn't QUITE at Charizard's level of over-saturation. I do think people who backlash solely because he's big should take a step back, but I think that about all instances of "it's popular, therefore it sucks". Granted a lot of popular stuff DOES suck, but that's on its own merits, and I try not to begrudge people their fun either way. That may be why my opinion on Charizard is, "good, but not god tier" rather than, "errrgghh, not again! Take it away!"
But ye, Lucario is an especially good doggo in a series filled with good doggos. Like Stoutland, for instance, speaking from recent experience. If you haven't played through BW or BW2 with a Stoutland, I highly recommend it. Had both in B2 and they carried the rest of the shitters on their backs the whole way (Samurott was disappointing AF)..
