I'll probably ebay any that are worth money, but most of the gen 1 holos have scratches and water damage/mold spots. I used to carry them around with me in my shorts and my cousin pushed me into a pool which fucked them up. The japanese gen 2 stuff is mostly flawless, must have got those later on

I have lots of 1st gen holos but this is the only shadowless i think

Those black dots DO come off (i scratched one off) but theres probably a better way of cleaning them

are japanese holos worth anything? Or is it like videogames where they have a lower value than english versions?
All my japanese holos are pretty much flawless. Probably went straight from the booster pack to a protective folder without being carried around, kids didnt want to trade them because we couldnt read them IIRC.
All my non-holos are flawless too if that means anything

RSE era cards are definitely modern but you have to remember print runs were quite low due to being printed during the all time low in pokemon’s popularity. Investing in exs is a far better idea than investing in gen 4+ and about on par with some of the worse wotc sets (gym series, neo discovery etc)

In MTG, the game that inspired it, there are 5 colors so Pokemon started with 6. Dark and Steel were great additions but Dragon and Fairy were completely unnecessary since they didn't plan on adding all the types. In MTG cards with more than one color are commonplace effectively expanding beyond the 5 colors. Pokemon could definitely get away with adding all the types but while aesthetically it would be great it wouldn't be much different gameplay wise.

You are the first person i've seen that prefers that promo to the other two. Kudos for unique taste. You can get it on ebay for like $10-$15. Otherwise, you can just get the pack of 3 (with the Vstar and V) for like $30. And if you wanted to "pull" it yourself, one 3 pack comes in every Charizard Ultra Premium Collection which still should be hovering around $100. Either way, there are plenty options

A grandma may have bought a promo tin for her grandson, but the next thing the grandson may ask for is a more expensive item like a Booster Box. For the most part they are tournament legal and merely contain cards that have alternate arts to cards that are already out. if you just want to collect cool cards I’d suggest just buying singles, I have a neat little collection but buying packs will always be more expensive than just buying the cards you want outright

Usually just lurk but I'll post cards today. If your collection is based solely on the monetary value of the cards then you're misguided. Collect for the love, the nostalgia, the artists you appreciate. There is more value in those things than money could every afford.

I'm a binderfag, always will be, but they do damage cards. The more you put in there the more the pages deform along the spine. I find it especially bad in 12 pocket binders.

Which means that no matter what your cards on the inside column are being bent by the binder. Any page that isn't the middle pages will have that bending on the inside column, as you've just admitted. Binder companies should increase the deadspace before the first inside pocket on their pages. But they don't make that space long enough and you get this rise. This is 100% proof of warping. You can see it. You can see it on every page you've shown us, the inside column is raised and bent.

Isn't that a design of the binder? If there was no bulge and the pages were tight, then that means the cards would be pringling. But in the above images the cards are tilted upwards but still lie in one plane, they don't bend. Seems like it's supposed to be like that to keep them flat.

When it doesn't hinge or bend, it instead bends the cards in order to force the page flat. This results in YOUR cards being bent.

The design flaw here is that the pages should have an additional 2 inches of unoccupied space between the spine and sleeve. It makes for verry large pages to turn but yeah. Avoids the curve from happening on card slots.
