Worst part about Volcanion is that in gen 9, they made Scald an exclusive move of his. No other pokemon has Scald now.

One of the most useful moves in the whole game, and it's absolutely wasted on Volcanion because it already has Steam Eruption. (Which is basically a stronger version of Scald)

I kinda hate the Gen 6 mythicals because they all feel designed for actual events they never got.

Like everything else in Gen 6 they just feel incomplete.

Why IS Diancie the only gen 6 pokemon to have a mega anyway? I understand that they wanted to focus more on older pokemon with these but still, not even the starters? Just a single mythical with no in-game event?

Twice for Hoopa and Diancie. Volcanion had two in gen 6 as well but it also got a distribution in gen 8, and Diancie despite also being in swsh never got one. All 3 are in gen 9 so there's a pretty good chance they'll get another but not guaranteed

The older generations were most likely more marketable for the mechanic. Since newer Pokémon have more additive features on their design.

Gen 2,3 and 4 all had stuff to do in game as part of obtaining them. You even battled them too

Remove Volcanion and we’re good. Diancie and Hoopa kind of have the problem where their stronger forms are much cooler and they’re clearly designed around them, but it’s not like the base forms are bad.
