>>53593630Everyone always says that gen 3’s graphics are unimpressive but if you ask me they perfectly translated the original style into a more vibrant and exotic world. Stuff like route 113, Mt Chimney, Meteor Falls, Fortree and the surrounding routes, as well as the entire underwater section, are excellent examples of areas that are ambitiously creative while still using the simplistic style that Pokémon established in Gens 1 and 2.
I for one am glad they went this route, the simple top down tile based aesthetic has and always will be a perfect fit for Pokémon, and so far everything that hasn’t used that style has been worse off for it.
