SV is my favorite pokemon game by a mile. My hope is that the story telling is as good as Area Zero was, and that all the DLC is handled by team 2. Have all the new content instanced rather than on the open world map so they can try and optimize the dogshit game that team 1 put together with bubblegum and shoe strings.

SV is fine. It's not perfect but it does add some stuff that's very good for the growth of the franchise. It's very rough though and the environments are... Just terrible.

Environs and level design are mostly good, it just needs enterable buildings, side quests, and non-shit grafix.

Love it honestly.
Hoping for some cool but not completely meta-breaking new Pokemon, cute girls, fun locations, new outfit options, maybe a battle tower type attraction. More competitive QOL upgrades.

t. millennial boomer just happy his childhood franchise is still going strong and making good Pokemon easier and easier to obtain.

The environments aren't good at all. They're very empty and flat. Tagtree Thicket is the worst because the marketing portrayed it as a thick forest but it just looks like a couple trees in a valley. There are no memorable or beautiful environments that truly stand out.

Games got problems no doubt, but the simple ability to just fuck around in an open world of my favorite franchise is enough to let me love it in spite of that. Mix that with comp being a fuck ton more enjoyable than SwSh for me, but just as easy to build and access, and its a recipe for hundreds of hours pumped in already. Very refreshing after slowly disliking the mainline titles more and more until I disengaged almost entirely with SwSh.

I think it's the designs. I really really hate most of Paldea's designs, and the actual game is such a downgrade from even the FIRST GENERATION that it just makes me sad.

I don't care about the expansions. I'm not paying $70 for mediocre content that should've been there from launch, I'm CERTAINLY not paying $70 for those god-fucking-awful designs they're using to sell it, and I'm not paying $70 for the next Pokemon game like I know I'll have to
not sure why I'm even complaining about the price point when i've been pirating since gen 8 but whatever the complaint still stands

I have had fun with it, but God it is a buggy mess, even after the patches.
Also its absolutely a lesser entry in the series even compared to SwSh.
I hope the DLC at least patches a lot of the bugs and lag, but realistically I'm expecting it to introduce a lot more bugs and lag.

One thing I really, REALLY hate that they cut though is how they really reduced interactions with your pokemon in the camp, or a half-baked picnic mechanic in this case...
Seriously, I actually unironically rate Sword/Shield higher based on that alone, in camp you can at least actually play with your pokemon and they have unique interactions based on a ton of factors with you and each other. in SV? All you do is just wash them, and that's about it.

I like Paldea but the poor graphics and framerate with no actual badge level scaling system for the non linear structure is very dissapointing.
Also not being able to rematch trainer NPCs, Elite Four or the Titans, Gym Leaders you only get to rematch them once in postgame but Team Star leaders you get everday.
Why make all these trainers with teams only to fight them once?
I would like the expansion updates to you make able to rematch trainers
What I hope for the expension itself is one great tough campaign area and a Battle Facility. Perhaps adding some Legends Arcues mechanics

I didn't think they could top PLA but SV jumped to my new #1 favorite.
It went from HGSS for over a decade to PLA to SV taking over in the same year. I really like the characters, the world, the exploration, and a good deal of the new Pokemon. The bugs are there but they didn't hurt my playability as much as people claim. I only really felt a lag in Tagtree Thicket and a few spots in Casseroya Lake. The pros greatly outweigh the cons for me.

Not much you can do postgame wise besides tera raids and competitive training your pokemon online battling which gets boring after a while.
It would have been a excellent game for replay value if there was an actual badge level scaling system

SM was really promising but USUM killed Alola for me, then Let's Go was just a nostalgia cashgrab. SwSh was so bad I didn't even finish the DLC, and I didn't even reach Stark Mountain in BDSP, but Legends Arceus and Scarlet Violet made me fall in love with this franchise again.
I'm so glad Pokémon is slowly healing
