It doesn’t really matter because transferring mons between games will reset their moveset when sent to a new game, but if you were to transfer them back to a previous game it’ll restore the moves it had from that game.

I wonder if this will work for abilities as well. No Guard/Fissue Machamp is about to become a thing in SS AG.

Oh it can happen, it was a pretty common thing when they first launched Home. Still happens time to time when they update it where people will just suddenly be missing chunks of their pokemon from their Home boxes.
