There's no curve, no learning, no feeling of accomplishment, no feeling of progression, nowhere to explore, nothing new to see, nothing. The makers of these hacks fully expect you to use their spreadsheets with boss info all recorded on it combined with calculators loaded with everything you need so you can bring a perfect counterteam against it (also essentially treating your Pokemon like disposable tools, which very much goes against the entire spirit of the franchise) and win. It's not even actually that difficult, as

It isn't fun, but that's because the entire experience heavily disregards what makes games actually fun. This is also why I brought up games like Dark Souls or Monster Hunter where the difficulty helps the experience but isn't defined by it. Dark Souls has its atmosphere, huge worlds and lore, Monster Hunter has its beautiful environments and cooperation and monster designs with dynamic fights. Pokemon difficulty hack #686297 of Hoenn or Kanto are just lazy spreadsheet simulators. They can do better, and choose not to.
