I never played PokeMMO. Is this any good, or its a meme; Or are there better alternatives?
And is this game for anybody, or does it requires autistic levels of competitive knowledge? I dont care about breeding or similar shit.

I've played a fair share of Pokémon MMOs, ever since its infancy (boomers will remember Pokémon Crater)

PokéOne is the best. Followed by Pokémon Revolution Online, and then PokéMMO.

But this is from my experience years ago, maybe things have changed.

It has two really bad points, breeding and berry fgrowing. Dear god almighty I hate what they did to berries.
But everything else I love. Following pokemon, movesets/abilities of gen V but updated to the learnsets of gen VIII, refreshing difficulty thanks to rebalanced npcs and level cap stopping you from overlevelling (but without wasting exp, stores it instead)
And ocarinas, I fucking love ocarinas, no more HM slaves for me.

In order to stimulate the in-game economy, berries and breeding are made far more obtuse and complex.
Otherwise, it is generally stepped up in difficulty from Vanilla, with updated and revamped movests for a lot of monsters. Following pokemon is fun, and it is easy to check out IVs and EVs for PvP purposes.

It is fun, I'd recommend playing it.

Pokemmo rarely goes out of its way to introduce original ideas into the mix, only during events and a one-off raid battle against Giratina in Sinnoh
There is also that due to how their engine works they likely wont add content beyond gen 5 (which might be a plus for some people but not for me)

PRO probably has the most original content out of the 3 but it has lots of retarded bullshit
For example there is no Fly HM, you have to walk everywhere or use teleports placed in pokecenters but only after you beat the E4
Or that only base form pokemon get full exp, evolutions get a fraction
There are also pokemon locked behind paywalls

Pokeone sits in the middle between QoL and original content

PokeMMO is absolute kusoge, don't waste your time.
The "rebalanced difficulty" is just a series of changes that makes everything take longer. Every regular trainer encounter spams non-volatile status moves which means you have to spend money to stock up on antidotes/awakenings etc., or run back to a pokemon center inbetween every single fight which destroys the pace. However, money is extremely hard to come by. Regular trainer battles give you fuck all, amulet coin and luck incense have TIME LIMITS i.e. you activate them and they only work for a couple of hours before they just disappear (same with lucky egg), and every way you knew of grinding money from the originals is gone. You can't rematch the E4 over and over in any region for example. If you decide to use your money on curative items or repels to expedite the process of running back to a pokemon center inbetween ever single encounter, then you won't be able to participate in the game's marketplace. Want to buy TMs from other players so you can deck out your pokemon with interesting moves which you wouldn't be able to do in the normal versions of the original games? Nope, not possible because you spent all your money on parlyz heals just to restore the game to a sensible pace. So either you play the game at a pace slower than fucking Colosseum or DP, or you play the game at a bearable pace and can't participate in any of the interesting MMO features - just play the originals at that point.
Now say you do slog through the main adventure and reach a postgame. Well guess what there's fuck all to do because money is impossible to come by. If you want to build a decent team to battle your friends or randoms, you will have to sit there grinding for money in the slowest ways possible to buy items or TMs going for obscene prices on the market and next week the devs will patch that grinding method out of the game (yes this really happened to me). Also breeding is fucked. Don't even get me started on that

Release pokeMMO was very fun. It was genuinely just normal pokemon 3rd gen but with other people, nothing more nothing less.
Then they started to make retarded changes to "balance it", something literally no one asked for.
They introduced retarded level caps, they reduced money, they made the breeding literal hell, they put "cooldowns" on fucking everything, they put pay2win shiny boosters and shit.
The game right now is still fun if:
1- you have friends to play it with
2- you will quit playing once you finish the regions storylines
3- you dont care about "endgame" stuff, so no breeding, no shiny hunting, no competitive battling etc...
For reference: it takes about 6-8 hours of grinding (read: battling the same trainers over and over) to get a single competitive pokemon.

It still blows my mind that we haven't gotten an official pokemon mmo yet. I remember being a kid, playing pokemon and Everquest at the same time, and thinking, wow, the pokemon model of battling and trading with other people is perfect for a game like Everquest, I wonder how long it will be until they make a pokemon mmo?

And here we are, 20 years later, and the closest thing we have is pet battles in WoW.

Beating all regions nets about 1.5 mil which is enough to buy/breed a team to tackle gym rematches as your money farming method and you get MORE money with the timed amulet coin compared to the previous version even if you buy them from other players
1 amulet coin is enough to beat 2 regions worth of gyms, you get roughly 100k per region so about 400k per day
5x31 iv pokemon cost about 1 mil on average but you absolutely don't need to go that far to participate in ANY of the content 2x31 3x25> is more than enough and that costs less than 200k to make if you buy all the materials

Beating all regions is more than 100 hours of game time minimum with the battle speed of PokeMMO. 100 hours of slow bullshit or 100 hours of just not participating in the game's economy. What the fuck is the point of that? I'm not slogging through 100 hours of terribly paced campaigns to unlock ONE form of money farming that the devs will probably patch out soon. It should be designed so that you can build a unique team to take on the other regions after completing one region especially given how shitty any given campaign in PokeMMO is.

The level cap was an amazing idea that keeps the game fresh for me, no longer able to sweep the game with an overlevel starter and even with a full team you can get snowballed if you aren't careful. It emphasizes the tactical aspect of pokemon, if only a little.

I understand the problem everyone has with breeding. Hell, it still annoys me too, but they've really lessened how frustrating it is. Thanks to alpha pokemon appearing every day you can get high IV breed stock way, way faster than you used to be able to. Plus alphas are good money makers as well.
