Putting the joke aside, I've seen many comments from Jap joking about Goh's Cinderace as the mother of the team in the last few episodes of the anime. Or they just want the rabbit to be like Dawn's Piplup, make her Piplup wearing a dress.
Also, the image of a leader is often likened to a "big bro" instead of a big sis cause men are often the breadwinners of the family. Thus, it's hard to distinguish Cinderace's true gender. This is why even if there is a bit of information in the magazine, no one dares to put Cinderace's gender on Bulbapedia cause it simply doesn't make an official statement.
