Johto's remake was unironically amazing though, which means even though the gen3 and gen4 ones were absolute dumpster fires (LGPE was sort of okay, but it also wasn't really a remake) they have shown it can be done well.

Also his logic is stupid, because Gamefreak is definitely already working on a Gen 5 remake, so we can't just "end them" all we can do is hope it doesn't suck because it's inevitably coming.

There probably won't be a gen 6 remake though, as 3D feels like a good stopping point.

LGPE was a reimagining of Kanto, so that's fine. It's not a remake. It added features to Kanto and made it's own game. ORAS and BDSP are both terrible remakes that shat all over the previous games and removed standard features from those games.

Even as a kid, I understood that HGSS was needed: making gen 2 compatible with the rest of the series again, adding additional content, abilities and physical/special split bringing a new way to play the game. But ORAS was where I asked "why? Why do we need this?"

Making Gen 3's connectivity features not awful using modern technology and the Gen 6 online system. Which it did spectacularly. Shame about what they did to Hoenn though, I wish I could recommend ORAS without like 20 asterisks and a waiver. DP also needed a remake to not run like hot garbage but whoops they fucked that up too, Platinum is still the best and even then it's arguably better to play HGSS instead.

What fucking universe are you in. At best they're in development on whatever game is going to be an engine test for Gen 10, like Let's Go and Legends were. They're also probably in pre-production on Gen 10 itself. This is also ignoring the fact that Game Freak also didn't work on the Gen 4 remakes in the first place.
